Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

Did you know pancreatic cancer is now the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths in the country, surpassing breast cancer?  That’s a sobering statistic.  Founded in 1999, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is dedicated to fighting the world’s toughest cancer. With their urgent mission to save lives, this organization works tirelessly to attack pancreatic cancer on all fronts: research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy. Their effort is amplified by a nationwide network of grassroots support all working together to advance research, create hope for those impacted by pancreatic cancer today,  improve patient outcomes, and to double survival by 2020.

Karma yoga (Sanskrit: कर्म योग), (also known as Buddhi Yoga) or the “discipline of action” is based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred Sanskrit scripture of Hinduism. Of the four paths to realization, Karma Yoga is the science of achieving perfection in action. Selfless action and service to others are emphasized in this type of yoga. Karma Yoga is selfless service unto humanity. If you have a favorite charity, that you would like to see Be Yoga feature, please email Michelle Seymour, michelle@beyogaclt.com.

It’s summer!  Even if you didn’t have a calendar you would know summer is in full force in our community because of the many outdoor events taking advantage of the longer days and easygoing, good feeling in the air.  One of these outdoor events this summer just happens to be connected to our karma yoga partner for July and August!  We’re excited to be partnering with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network organization and eager to support their goal of helping patients who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and funding much needed research to help find a cure.  Some of you may remember last year when we lost our own dear friend and front desk ambassador Molli Richwagen to this disease, and we hope to continue honoring her memory by contributing to organizations like this one.
